Vinh Tuy 2 bridge construction project started construction in January 2021 and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2023 with a total investment of more than 2,500 billion VND.
Accordingly, the project will build a bridge parallel to the current Vinh Tuy bridge downstream and with a similar shape.
Vinh Tuy Bridge phase 2 has a total length and path of more than 3.4 km, a cross section of 19.25m (4 lanes), a static height of 11m.
In the early days of April 2022, package 1 of the main bridge over the river, workers continued to construct the T22 pier. A variety of construction materials and machinery are gathered. The main bridge piers have risen to the surface, parallel to Vinh Tuy 1 bridge.
This is the most complicated item of the Vinh Tuy 2 bridge project, including the construction of 7 pillars and 6 main spans in the middle of the river.
Due to the underwater construction, the construction process also encountered many difficulties, especially the bridge piers crossing the Red River were being constructed under the river bed 12m deep, the water flowing very fast.
To overcome, the contractors had to use large wall pipes to drive into the river bed, then spray concrete inside to pour bored piles.
In the bidding packages from No. 2 to No. 5 to construct the viaduct on the Long Bien side, the contractors have completed the pier body and are constructing the structure on the bridge.
After more than 1 year of construction, Vinh Tuy 2 bridge has gradually taken shape.
This is one of the key traffic works of Hanoi, Vinh Tuy bridge phase 2, after completion and put into use, will increase the traffic capacity between the two banks of the Red River.
After the completion of phase 2, Vinh Tuy bridge will be the bridge with the largest cross-sectional width in Hanoi with 8 car lanes (40m), ensuring the traffic capacity for Ring Road 2, completing the lower road. low and high road.
At the same time, it will connect with the elevated Ring Road 2, which will form a complete traffic axis from the center of Hanoi to the northern and northeastern areas of the city.
