Unfortunately in 2020, due to the pandemic, Dog Story Theater had to close its doors. Since then, the DST Board of Directors has been continuously looking for a new space to move into that would fit our needs as a theater and our budget as a nonprofit.
In May of 2023, Dog Story’s Board of Directors finally found the perfect spot. But for us to reopen, we’ll need some help from our community.
Dog Story Theater is an important part of our arts community. It gives local writers, artists and theater companies a chance to be seen and thrive. It’s a safe home for all creatives where you can come in as a new artist and make your mark. It brings a diverse selection of art to our City.
Although we are almost there, to reopen we will need to make some slight changes to the building in regards to egress and ADA accessibility. The money from this fundraiser will offset our projected restart costs by about 30%.
Phase 1 of construction will include the work just to get us open and meet building codes. If we fundraise more than our goal, we may be able to go into Phase 2 which will open up some more seating and make some aesthetic changes to the stage area. Currently, we are expecting to move toward Phase 2 after being open for 1 or 2 years.
