Earlier this year, Evelyn was devastated when she had to say goodbye to her beloved dog Cerberus.
The pooch died after eating an Eccles Cake, which was accidentally dropped on the floor in the cafe by Roy (David Neilson).
Evelyn now helps to look after and walk Roy’s dog Freddie. The adorable pet came into Roy’s life shortly after his friend’s death. After struggling to adapt initially, Roy now loves having Freddie around and appreciates whenever Evelyn is able to help out.
The love for dogs is at the forefront of Evelyn’s mind soon, as she witnesses a man abusing his pet while on the cobbles.
She takes action and confronts him, giving her opinion on the man’s terrible behaviour.
Roy ends up coming to Evelyn’s aid but he’s left shaken when Terry, the dog owner, turns on him instead.
Witnessing the ordeal unfold is Cassie (Claire Sweeney), who arrives to see Roy filming Terry and the dog.

Later in the week, after Ty (Alan Halsall) reports Terry to the police, an exhausted Evelyn admits to Roy that she couldn’t sleep for worrying about the dog.
During her shift at the charity shop, Evelyn spots Terry pull up outside.
As she watches, Evelyn is appalled to see Terry head off and leave the dog alone in the van.
Hearing the pup whimpering, Evelyn reaches a decision, but how will Roy react when she returns to the cafe with the dog in tow?
