As a dog mom who’s also working full-time, planning a wedding, and attempting to maintain some kind of a social life, I know firsthand just how hard it can be to make time for all of the important things in life. Daily routines like walking the dog can start to feel like chores, but sometimes it’s those little actions that matter the most.

Another dog mom, Daisy Guerrero, took to TikTok on November 26 to remind pet parents not to take those small moments with their pets for granted. She set up a heartbreaking scene that every pet parent can relate to (whether we like it or not), and it has thousands of pet owners rethinking their actions.
Pass the Kleenex, please! Not only is it difficult to watch @daisyguerrero04’s sweet little Shih Tzu just waiting around for his mama, but it’s heartbreaking to think that I may have done the same thing to my dogs at some point. I know I’m guilty of passing up an opportunity to give my dogs attention, and this video truly brought that to the front of my mind.

Fortunately, this video is only a skit for TikTok and not the small dog’s reality. Daisy admitted she “actually cried recording this,” and I don’t blame her one bit! My heart is shattering just thinking that I’ve ever made my dogs feel left out or ignored, but it does make me feel better knowing that I’ll be more mindful moving forward. I’ve made several life adjustments, including working from home, that allow me to spend more time with my dogs, but I know I’m not always my best self.
But consider this a warning: don’t read through the comments unless you’re ready to cry! Several dog owners shared the stories of how they learned not to take their pups for granted, and I wasn’t prepared. Let’s just say, I’m giving my boys extra cuddles and dog treats today!
