Actress Angie Harmon shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram that her dog tragically lost its life over the weekend after an Instacart delivery driver allegedly fatally shot him outside their North Carolina residence.

“This Easter weekend a man delivering groceries for Instacart shot & killed our precious Oliver,” Harmon candidly shared on Instagram. “We are completely traumatized & beyond devastated at the loss of our beloved boy & family member.”

She went on to explain the details of the incident. “He got out of his car, delivered the food & THEN shot our dog… He shot our dog with my daughters & myself at home & just kept saying, “yeah, I shot your dog. Yeah I did.”

She also alleges that the driver was conscious of the fact that their Ring camera, which records their front door, was charging in the house. He “knew he wasn’t being recorded,” and further revealed that “the police let him go because he claimed ‘self-defense.’ He did not have a scratch or bite on him nor were his pants torn.”

Alongside the lengthy caption was a tribute to their dog, with the first photo displaying text that wrote: “Rest in peace sweet Ollie.” The rest of the carousel included a photo when he was a puppy and a video of him laying on the couch.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department released a statement regarding the matter after their investigation. “The driver told officers that a dog attacked him while he was at the residence and that he defended himself by firing a single gunshot, striking and mortally wounding the dog,” they shared.

As for Instacart’s response to the unfortunate matter, they commented, “We were deeply saddened and disturbed to hear about this incident,” the company said in a statement. “We have no tolerance for violence of any kind, and the shopper account was immediately suspended from our platform.”
