One-Two punch coming from Old Man Winter
After being a virtual no-show in West Michigan so far this season, it looks like Old Man Winter is about to come calling with a couple of snow-producing storms.
The first, this weekend, won’t pose much of a challenge. An “Alberta Clipper,” a fast-moving disturbance that often forms on the east side of the Rockies in the Canadian province of Alberta, will bring scattered snow showers from early Saturday morning through early Sunday afternoon.
Boyfriend of missing Heather Kelley charged with murder
Over one year after Kalamazoo County mother of eight Heather Kelley disappeared, her boyfriend, Carlos Watts Jr., has been charged with murder.
If convicted, Watts Jr. could either spend the rest of his life behind bars without parole or could face up to life in prison with the possibility of parole, according to Kalamazoo County Prosecutor Jeff Getting Wednesday.
Crash closes southbound US-131 south of Kalamazoo
A crash involving multiple semi trucks closed southbound US-131 south of Kalamazoo on Tuesday.
The Michigan Department of Transportation announced the closing around 1:30 p.m. at U Avenue.

4-year-old boy in critical condition after dog attack in Portage
A 4-year-old boy was taken to the hospital Sunday afternoon after being attacked by the family’s dogs.
When officers arrived to the Pleasant Drive home, they found the child in the living room, semi-conscious, and suffering from multiple puncture wounds throughout his body, according to Portage Public Safety.
Allegan woman killed after head-on collision in Richland Township
A 20-year-old Allegan woman died after a head-on vehicle collision in Richland Township Sunday morning, according to Michigan State Police.
Troopers from the Paw Paw post said the woman was driving eastbound on M-89 near E. B Avenue in a Ford Fusion around 8:40 a.m. when she lost control and veered into a Dodge Durango traveling in the westbound lane.
Battle Creek man dies in early Friday morning shooting
A 24-year-old Battle Creek man died Friday morning from a shooting on North Wabash Avenue.
The shooting happened around 3:45 a.m. near Sherman Road, according to Battle Creek Police Department.
